Porsche EVs Lead Record US Retail Sales for Q1 2025
Famed sports car maker Porsche Cars North America (PCNA) reported it broke a Q1 sales record set in 2023, with its EVs leading the sales boost.
In the first quarter of this year, the company reported a total of 18,884 retail deliveries in the U.S., marking a significant 40.6 percent increase from the same period in 2024, and an 8.1 percent rise compared to Q1 2023. This exceptional performance reflects the ongoing demand for Porsche vehicles, led by a notable boost from the company’s expanding lineup of electric vehicles (EVs).
Fully electric vehicles accounted for 23 percent of all Porsche sales in Q1 2025, a major step forward in the company’s electrification strategy. At the forefront of this success is the Macan Electric, which made up nearly half (44.6 percent) of the Macan sales for the quarter. The Macan itself performed remarkably well, with a total of 7,486 units sold.
2025 Porsche Macan: A New Era of Performance with Electric Powertrain
The 2025 Porsche Macan lineup brings thrilling updates, with cutting-edge powertrains, enhanced efficiency, and refined performance capabilities. With two new electric models— the rear-wheel-drive Macan and the Macan 4S—Porsche redefines what’s possible for electric SUVs, blending power, precision, and sustainability.
Macan: Impressive Performance
The new rear-wheel-drive Macan is the lightest variant in the lineup, making it a perfect choice for those seeking an engaging driving experience without compromising on performance. This model is equipped with a 100 kWh high-voltage battery, offering substantial range and power while maintaining a lightweight structure. The rear-axle motor, which is shared with the Macan 4, delivers an impressive 250 kW (335 hp), allowing for a top track speed of 136 mph and a 0-60 mph time of just 5.4 seconds.
One of the standout features of the new Macan is its highly efficient power electronics. The motor is paired with a 480-amp pulse inverter that uses silicon carbide (SiC) transistors. This innovative semiconductor reduces switching losses and increases efficiency, enabling higher switching frequencies. The combination of this advanced inverter and the Launch Control system allows the Macan to produce up to 265 kW (355 hp) of overboost power, providing exhilarating acceleration.
In addition to the impressive performance, the Macan also benefits from being 243 pounds lighter than the all-wheel-drive Macan 4. This weight reduction, paired with the rear-wheel drive setup, contributes to an agile and responsive driving experience, making the Macan an ideal option for performance-oriented drivers.
